Hey guys, first time poster here. I've been getting drawn more and more to the classic English styling of Crockett and Jones lately. I currently own one pair, a Black Fleece wholecut oxford with a perf toe cap, I believe in the 240 last. I've got 2 questions.

1. I'm considering ordering one of the Purdey makeups but I live in america and wanted to know if anyone has had experience having to pay customs duties? They ship UPS. Anyone have anything else to say about ordering through Purdey in general, or the quality of their C&J's?

2. The 240 last is a good fit for me in 10.5 with a thin sock, should I order the same size for 325 lasted shoes and boots?

Thanks!

Here's a photo of the cap toes, unbelievable color, quality and detail

Push it when you see the taxes and duties bill

Do you know how much duties are on a pair of CJs or other expensive shoes? I looked up fees on the customs website and it says its supposed to be around 30-40 dollars here in the US from the UK.
Sorry man, I cant help you there. I live in Canada so we have totally different rates.

Welted shoes are 5%......most others 8.5%.

One time I got a pair of Tricker's via FedEx. The FedEx customs dude contacted me to ask wtf they were since the shipper labeled them as "Men's brogues".
I emailed him back and even included the hts code for welted footwear at 5%. Bastard still classed them at the 8.5% rate but at least he didn't charge me the brokerage fee.

Damn, that's unfortunate. In the future ill be sure to ask the seller to include that code and a more generic description. That employee's face was probably pretty funny when reading "mens brogues". Thanks zippyh

So sort facility means I am about to get stuck. Due at time of delivery? My great deal is evaporating.

Don't sweat it if it's at the USPS ISC. Stuffs can take far longer than one would expect to make it through customs and sorting.
Your chances of having to pay anything with USPS delivery is very low.

Coniston owners! What kind of outfits do you usually wear with your Cons? dressy/formal or casual (jeans, sweaters, nice shirts, regular shirts)? I'm considering it for mostly causal wear.
