Does C&J actually resole the shoes from Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren, which they manufactured in the first place? Or does C&J only offer the resoling and refurbishment service for the shoes under their own brand?

For me that is a relevant question, because a single monk on Ebay from Brooks Brothers would be nice, and is made by C&J to the handgrade specifications.

Best regards

No direct experience, but they should. Can't see any reason why they would refuse to.

To be sure, you can ask them, of course.

the shoes & boots, manufactured under the label „peal & co“ for brooks brothers have been made on the special BB last 240.
this last is not as asymmetric as the common c&j lasts (325, 341, 348), so for me it didnˋt work. there was lateral pressure to the big toe.

@Pascal1980 : be careful with your BB monks, good luck!

As far as I'm aware, C&J makes nothing for RL anymore. RL has since discovered you can have shoes built in China which when new look the same, and also sell them for the same price.

Not entirely true.

RLPL shoes are now mainly made by Sasseti. Edward Green still produces their patent oxford.

As for Polo's high-end offerings, they've been using a maker in Spain, and recently released a few models that are made in England (I think it's Sanders based on the writing).

I had a chat with some RL reps about how they need to bring back C&J and G&G models.

I can only welcome this. Quality will always pay.

How disappointing and discouraging to read "Made in China" or "Made in Vietnam", no offence intended.

RRL made in England are from Cheaney.
RRL made in USA cowboy boots from Rios.
I think the Polo beefroll loafers are still Rancourt.

That's correct! I think RLPL also offers a MTO program for their Sasseti models.

I have one pair. The leather is good quality, and the last is very comfortable. Also blake stitched.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
