Leather is like it was always. It's probably the indoor lightning in photo. Will upload shots in natural daylight at some point
Great to hear. Debating whether to hold onto Ascott 2s. I know Aldens fade colour 8 a little, but from a darker shade. C&J burgundy cordovan appears to start off slightly brighter than Alden out of the box, so was hoping it won’t fade to lighter red. Ascott 2s out of the box look amazing tbh

I personally think they dont fade. Stays pretty much how they've been treated to begin with. Ofcourse shell takes on its own variations n tones with time that evolve.

Could you also comment if you use your shells in the rain? They don’t appear to have any signs of rain damage on them, and I know different manufacturers treat shell differently to protect against water.

I was basically looking at Ascott 2 as an autumn/winter/spring shoe in London, so obviously some rain is to be expected.

I have generally worn shell in the summer. But i dont believe rain should be a concern when wearing any leather/shell. Its not gonna damage the shell if thats your concern. Ofcourse one could expect there's spotting due to the rain water, in which case you want to wait until the shoes dry up naturally, and then carry out a cleaning/polishing routine (as with any leather).

Maybe other folks who have experience of wearing shell in the rain can tell you better from experience.
