Really liking the new Islay boots in green rough-out suede.

Or it may be just the great photo's taken by C&J:

I also really like the green rough-out islays.
How does the rough-out suede hold up after several years of use?

Just a quick heads-up that there are still C&J sales at 'Zwartjes van 1883', a Dutch shoe store, with free shipping to EU countries (if the price is higher than ~€350). They also sell some MTO/handgrade C&J shoes.

The website is configured in a quite irritating way where you can't filter shoes on sale by the designer, so I compiled a list below:

  1. Brecon: dark brown country calf boots | EU 40E/ UK 6E | €660 --> €549. Link.
  2. Connaught 2: light-brown/tan cap toe oxfords | EU 42.5E; EU 45E | €660 --> €449. Link.
  3. Hallam: brown suede cap toe oxfords | EU 43E; EU 47E | €640 --> €470. Link.
  4. Westfield: brown brogues | EU 43E; EU 43.5E | €650 --> €469. Link.
  5. Cranton: brown suede chelsea's | EU 40E | €560 --> €450. Link.
  6. Bodmin: brown chukka's | EU 39E | €500 --> €330. Link.
  7. Bodmin: black chukka's | EU 42.5E | €550 --> €400. Link.
  8. Portman: brown suede (handgrade) | EU 40E | €700 --> €600. Link.
  9. Cadogan: brown tobacco (handgrade) | EU 41E | €720 --> €550. Link.
  10. Northcote: boots (MTO) | EU 47 | €600 --> €330. Link.
  11. Barnet: khaki ankle boots | EU 40E; EU 43.5E | €550 --> €350. Link.
  12. Fleet: dark brown suede horse bit loafers | EU 41 | €500 --> €400. Link.
  13. Fleet: ocean blue suede horse bit loafers | EU 40; EU 41 | €500 --> €380. Link.
  14. Lanark: burgundy | EU 40 | €580 --> €450. Link.
  15. Skye: brogue boots in navy suede (MTO) | many sizes | €570 --> €450. Link.
  16. Nice: chestnut leather penny loafers | EU 40/42/42.5/44/45E | €600 --> €450. Link.
  17. Nice: light brown suede penny loafers | EU 39/42/42.5/43 | €600 --> €450. Link.

Other sale you might've missed: Waardijk Schoenen. Link.
Holy **** - thanks for enabling. I just ordered the Skye in Navy Suede, although I thought I was done ordering shoes/boots for this year...

Nice shoes. They would look much better on a (double) leather or a city rubber sole, in my opinion.
I resent you, Sir. Now that you said it, I cannot un-see it.
I would wear these with heavier fabrics anyway but a city sole would have made them wearable with your Super 110s etc.

Has anyone purchased the new Denver, dark brown, in their hatch grain?
I find them absolutely beautiful but I own nothing in the last 378.

I have 2 pairs of boots in 378. Bibury and Ennerdale. Definitely roomy in the toe box. 325 fits me fine if that’s a helpful guide.
I have Coniston in hatch cordovan and it’s gorgeous. Easily my favourite.

one of the best fitting lasts i own from any brand. If 325 or similar work for you, 378 is most likely gonna be a good fit with a great heel fit and more space in the toe box.

Thank you, both. I own the Cavendish and Coniston and they feel great in the toe box.
I hope to find some time to drop by their shop by the end of the month.

Any sizing tips for 379 last v 325? I’m looking at getting some Westgate Oxfords and wear a UK9 in 325 and 365 lasts. I have a feeling sizing up may be required but not sure. I’m also interested in the width as I have quite wide feet. Anyone own a pair of these?

While I’m asking for advice, I’m considering wearing these for a wedding. I was going wear some Pembrokes but thought that Oxfords might be more appropriate. Any views on this?

I have a pair of Upton (379) and a pair of Cavendish (325). The Uptons are among my best fitting shoes, super comfortable. I have the same size in both (UK9) and actually find the Uptons to be a little bit wider.
Of course you should have a pair of oxfords for a wedding (if you're wearing a suit). Personally I would not go with full brogues, but that's just me.

Agreed, definitely Oxford shoes or boots without brogueing for me. Leather or City rubber sole (no heavy Commando or Ridgeway sole).

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
