Very good shoes stores out there. Which store was it?

Depending on your location, if you are near the Opera House you would have seen Materna. On the backside of the Opera House several minutes walk from it, you would have seen Raz Maftei's atelier. If you were near the really large food market, would be Maftei's atelier.
Sandwiched between the big church and national library would be Scheer.
Ludwig Reiter would be on the backside of that.

Anyways, all will be top notch. All minus, Ludwig, should be Handwelted and Bespoke.
I am very close to the opera house, 6 mins walk. I did pass by Ludwig, that was the only one I was familiar with.

Shoepassion, not that interested, and a random retailer with Carmina. While quality is good on Carmina I find the leather extremely thin

The one with the exotics was Petkov https://petkov.at/oxford-schuhe/

It looked to be mainly bespoke and with a good selection of lasts

I had difficulty identifying the name as the main storefront banner was I guess the generic name for shoemaker

Hello All,

Just asking again for any photos of either the Chelsea 8 or Chelsea 5. I am trying to decide between the two but I will be buying online and so will be choosing by photos only.

Thanks.

Forgot about Petkov. He does great work as well. I was in his shop, and attempted to have Kangaroo shoes made. I ended up going with Materna for the commission.

Hi,

I'm more a passiv reader of this thread, but since nobody seems to be able to help you I will try my best.

Below are a few pictures side by side. The Chelsea 8 in black (7.5UK) and the Chelsea 5 in dark brown (8UK - in retrospec I could also have gone half size down).

First of all they are both very nice and you cann't go wrong with them.
In terms of styling the Chelsea 8 are much more elegant and dressy and work in my opinion better with chinos/trousers.
The Chelsea 5 have a more rounder and roomier toe box. I'd say the last feels very close to the Conistons. From the asthetics I'd say the 5's are the perfect balance between casual and smart and look always great.

The waxed calf leather of the 5's is out of box super soft and they needed absolutly no break in period.
The calf leather on the 8's on the other hand is a bit thicker and much stiffer. Also on the top end (ankle and above) the leather part is not so wide. With the elastic band that will result in a very close fit around the ankle which can be a bit uncompfortable combined with the stiffer leather. So expect a break in phase with the 8's.

I hope this was helpful for your decision.

Cheers

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these pics. Both look great and, although I am looking at the Chelsea 8 in Chestnut, I have to say those Chelsea 5s of yours look amazing. I have made my decision to go for the 5 based on your photos. Thanks again.

Enjoying a moment in a cafe. Coniston dark brown Rough-Out.

SF_Coniston.png

@Gustaf I've had my rough-outs for a year now and I use them every week. I am planning to apply dubbin twice a year. No more. That being said I have applied dubbin three times just recently, because I had to work with the outsoles as kindly instructed by @JFWR and I applied dubbin while at it and I applied some more just last week in my normal maintenance. As you can see they are considerably darker now.

Does anybody know, if RL Marlow is euqivalent to C&J Pembroke, when it comes to sizing? Where they also made on the 325 last? What about the fit - C&J E = Ralph Lauren E?
