Has anybody had an opportunity to try the new Superflex soles? I typically spend my summer vacation, if it’s in a city, in one pair of loafers, and I wonder if this would be a good option for a lot of walking.

Greetings. I've been perusing the forum and this awesome thread for a while now. I enjoy C&J and love all of the ideas and insight you guys have!

The Conistons have now joined the boot rotation. My goal is to get as far into the year as possible wearing boots every day. And... somehow... resist... buying... more boots.

Hoping someone might be able to provide some advice. I am looking at adding loafers to my shoe rotation. Currently the only loafer is a brown suede tassel loafer but I am also looking to add a penny loafer as well. I am contemplating which loafer from C&J are going to be the most versatile and have narrowed it down to a few choices that but I would like some other opinions prior to placing an order. I am looking for a pair that will work well for both odd trousers and a jacket down to jeans with knitwear.

right now I am looking at either the Grantham 2 (first link), Sydney (second link), or potentially Crawford (third link). My concern with either the Sydney or the Crawford is it may be too smart for jeans but I have the exact opposite concern for the Grantham where it may look too casual for trousers and a jacket.

If anyone has any advice they could pass along it would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think with the Sydney and Crawford it depends on the jeans and the outfit you pair them with. Out of the three, I think the Grantham would probably offer you the most versatility.

I'm surprised the Boston/Harvard isn't a consideration.

Crawford: It's a bit too sleek for jeans and I don't think it'd be a versatile loafer. It's a loafer I'd consider when if I had other versatile pairs in the rotation.

Sydney: It's a nice compromise between the Grantham and Crawford, and definitely more versatile than the Crawford.

Grantham: It's the loafer I would purchase first and if I'm only owning 1 or 2 pairs of loafers. I love loafers and literally have to refrain myself from purchasing more loafers. The Grantham pattern looks similar to Alden's LHS which I own in cordovan and suede, and both manage to still look great in trousers. I wasn't enthusiastic of the LHS or any similar patterns until my first LHS which is in cordovan.

Ultimately,

Thank you very much for your insight! The main reason behind the exclusion of the Boston/Harvard is due to the color availability and the Harvard being unlined.

With these being my first pair of loafers outside of the suede tassels I just want it to check off as many boxes as possible. But, due to my lack of experience, I wasn't sure if the more rounded toe of the Grantham would be appropriate with more casual separates.

Thanks again for your comments!

Honestly, I’d go with Alden LHS over any of those C&J. Preferably in cordovan.
