Left to right, Stuart's Choice by Grenson, Foot the coacher by Grenson, Grenson Masterpiece, Grenson Footmaster. All reminiscence from the past, I found none of what Grenson selling now days are as high quality as what they used to made.

I think Warren are made in India and from their G2 collection. Anything with the red insole with the big "G" logo are made in India. I'm glad to hear from you that that the quality are great. I bought several G2 Collection around 10 years ago and was disappointed. However, with the price you are paying I wouldn't complain.
You have some beautiful shoes there and in such wonderful condition. Unfortunatley it seems that way with most things where what was once a superior manufactured item has lost some of the quality due to cost cutting. I've found that with vintage wool coats, tweed jackets as well, where the quality is superb and something from 40 years ago still looks and feels better than most of what you can buy new today, bar some of the finer clothing companies.

Thank you for the information on the Warren, perhaps any imperfections or quality issues arent as noticeable due to the snuff suede which is quite rugged. It certainly not a formal boot and only gets a brush every so often. I'm really looking forward to getting the Archie commando delivered. My formal shoes just don't get the wear they used to so some of the slightly more casual wears such as the brogues, chelseas and red wings get a lot of foot time!

I should explain that the decrease in quality are in terms of craftmanship, not so much in terms of materials. If you had the chance to see old Grenson shoes in person they are very well made.

Likewise, I love present time Grenson because of their style and of course their history as a brand. Archie are such a nice looking brogue

Here are some of my present time Grensons, left to right, Triple welt curt, archie triple welt, archie spectator with crepe sole. The black unlined chukka are from G2 collection.

I've been reading previous posts here and could not find answers whether Grenson G Zero is just a new name for Grenson Masterpiece line? are there any quality differences?

The reason I ask because I own both old stock Grenson and recent Grenson shoes which all are made in england. I know recent Greson shoes are known for bad value but that stigma are generally for their made in India shoes.

Please give your opinion since quality of hand made shoes can vary from shoes to shoes.

My Grenson footmaster in mahogany colour.
I have three pairs of G One - a pair of derbies from the archive collection and two pirs of Vincent veldt boots. Most of my boots and shoes are Trickers and C&J and the quality of construction and leather is comparable in my view. People seem to make completely unsubstantiated claims about Grenson being inferior but I'm yet to see any evidence. Of course, their G Two collection is inferior and is made in India but I wouldn't touch these with a barge pole.

Someone earlier in this thread made the claim that Grenson use inferior leather but this is nonsense - the made in England shoes use excellent leather. My derbies are European calf that is top quality and my Vincent boots are made of two different Horween leathers. Other leading UK manufacturers use Horween leather too so is the suggestion that they're using better Horween leather- sorry but this is complete bs. In terms of the triple welt - these are well constructed but are too often made with corrected grain or bookbinder leather for my taste.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
