Excellent companion for my hikes.

Every time I see a day date diver I just wish they did one with a GMT hand to make the perfect vacation watch.
I’m even in the midst of having a Seiko mod custom made but among all the possible choices I’m not sure that anyone has ever created a movement that has a day date display at three o clock and a GMT function too so I was forced to choose between having a day date window or having date only with a GMT hand. I chose the latter and will of course post pics when it’s delivered. It’s kinda fun creating this but I think there’s a nice niche sideline gig out there for some techy who can create a software app where you can visualise a mock up of your choices to see how they go together before finalizing the parts you buy. Right now I’m going on imagination alone and hoping that my choices end up looking good.

Loebner Steelracer Black. It's a German brand with Swiss movement and case made in Germany. Interesting the protection sledge for the crown. With 42,5 mm diameter and 14,3 thickness on the large side though.

Date windows are a pain :hide:

The older I get and the worse my eyes become, the less concerned I am with setting the day or date on a watch.

Sometimes I have to double up on my cheaters to set the date, like I'm ever going to be able to see it....
Yeah all my life I’ve taken for granted having decent vision but I’ve reached the vintage whereby it’s hard for me to read the dates on my watches.
I’m seriously considering getting lens replacement surgery so I won’t have to worry about inevitable glasses and contacts.

I just had eye surgery last week. A blood vessel leaked a lot of blood in my eye fluid (vitreous hemorrhage). The doctor had to do vitrectomy surgery to remove and replace the eye fluid, kind of like an oil change.... Next up is cataract surgery. Getting old is a *****.

@Jazzmenco - That's a tough choice, both watches have things I like about them.

The Seiko 5 sort of reminds me of the green Seiko Sumo in a good way (especially the font on the bezel and the shape of the hour markers), but I think I prefer the color of the Gervil and I like the sharpness of the bezel there and how it looks on its bracelet.

I think in this instance for me it would come down to which watch fits better or maybe if you think one of them might be able to fetch a slightly better price (or sell faster) on the secondary market.

Wearing my Seiko 6105-8110 “Willard” from 1974 today. Sometimes I’m tempted to buy a modern one too but then I look at the price and the temptation goes away.
