New addition to the (very small) collection - really enjoying it and had not heard of Rodina until reading this thread, so thanks all.
You have a very identical looking combo that I have. Is that a Hirsch strap by any chance?

Wowsers - I thought that Steinhart was pretty blatant in their "homages" but that Rodina is simply a direct copy of a Nomos Tangente.
They are pretty much identical but I don't feel that bad owning my Rodina because Nomos didn't invent the look. The Tangente itself is pretty much a direct copy of old German bauhaus watches. Stowa also make a near identical watch.

However the Rodina doesn't "feel" that good simply because it isn't original. I somehow feel a bigger connection with my SKX009.

Is there a specific reason why Tudor gets praised over its design elements and not Steinhart? True, Tudor is like 3 times the price but it seems Steinhart constantly gets flagged for ripping off Rolex. Just curious.

EDIT: After a quick search on google and doing some minor research, I now understand the history and heritage of Tudor. Carry on...

That´s a good point, Tudor tends to imitate Rolex probaly more than Steinhart in my opnion

Not a Hirsch @Jarmo - just a cheap ebay alligator embossed strap with butterfly clasp - will see how long it lasts.....

Thanks @ridethecliche

Here's the small collection at the moment - 2 PMW (Rodina and Sea-Gull) and 1 slightly non-PMW (vintage Rolex Oyster Precision - engagement present from my wife over a decade ago which is still going great). All pretty dressy so I think a chunky divers watch will be next on the list - I like Oli2012's suggestion of an Orient Mako...

is that the Seagull M199? Theor price has skyrocketed over the past few years and they're hard to find. Really great looking watch.

Don't sleep on the Seiko Sumo, @Charhan1 The quality is ridiculously nice for its $400 price tag new.
The new Sumos definitely look better than the previous generations. I'm still more of a Samurai fan though, save for the non-hacking movement and date complication.

Thanks @New Shoes1 - the Seiko looks great and will certainly be on the short list! Am also undecided on colour - I like both the black and the blue - will now spend a bit of time researching options before pulling the trigger. Before seeing your Seiko I did try to get on the Orient Mako sale on Massdrop which ended yesterday - US $93 with free delivery was an absolute bargain, but unfortunately they would only deliver to US and Canada so I missed out...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
