Romafan, you should've left a $2 tip ($1 for each overpriced soda especially after you bought wine) just so he knew you appreciated his gesture (everybody hates not having enough $1 bills).

Yeah, I'd rather get a bunch of singles, than somebody who gives me not enough hoping I'll put down a bigger bill.

Unless they don't have any bigger bills, why would a busy bartender take the time to count 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, etc. singles? :confused2:

There could also be other reasons.

Depending on the place, if the bartender was getting ready to clock out and they actually take their tips, he/she could want to get rid of singles so that they take home their tips in larger bills. So if he/she has a tip jug full of singles, he/she may give many of them away and keep/swap the 10's, 20's.

It's really not that serious.
