Man, I'm truly grateful to check in here as a welcome break from the News, and I'm thankful to all of you for still going on about all the usual stuff. I don't have any ongoing bespoke projects to share, but I'm really glad some of you do. It's fun to follow along. Also, that armadillo looks alive to me.
Have been logging in here more since I’m working from home this past year and don’t interact with friends and clients as much. Joined this forum because I Enjoyed the open discussion of my trade from a broader audience and from the client’s point of view. Stuck around to impart some insights from this side of the trade. Have a sense of camaraderie here.

I worry that this pandemic is going to spell the death of many bespoke tailoring houses. I've heard from many tailors that they think this work-from-home set up is going to be semi-permanent, and this will affect orders. Plus, many haven't seen clients for a long time. One custom tailor told me that his 2020 sales were 20% of his 2019 sales, and this is only because the lockdowns started in March. Had he not had January through mid-March, it probably would be 10% of 2019's sales.

I doubt we will see any kind of normality this year. I'm also not very optimistic about the possibilities of bespoke Zoom arrangements, unless they're just a temporary measure to hold clients over until a tailor can travel.

Right now this forum is the only way most of us can keep in touch. Not up to jogging in a rollneck like Alexander Kraft, but went for a bike ride today so my pattern won't reflect Thursday pasta night about to begin.....does that count as "bespoke talk"?
What about handcrafted cocktails?

We need someone clever to create a dried pasta noodle in the shape of the milanese buttonhole gimping, combining two of my favourite pleasures, those being fine food and even better clothes.
Wearing my mushroom-coloured Harley shetland in anticipation of a porcini mushroom sauce garnish later on.

I wonder if "hidden" bespoke tailoring shops will survive in smaller cities?

I've always been surprised at what my tailor is capable of and I live in the middle of nowhere.

When I requested a raglan coat from my tailor, he mentioned not having made one "for a long time".

After I picked it up, he said he made 3 raglans that very month, one in a pure cashmere for a bodybuilder. I found that genuinely shocking.

It’s simple, 3 more posters on SF went to him for raglans. Next time you see him he probably made a few Bal’s

I initially thought it would be surprising if I had any SF'ers living in my region, but I think there's a couple here. Definitely possible they go to him.

I'm glad my tailor appears to be doing well though. I wonder if he'll pass his skills on to another generation though.

Where is your "region"?
Did you say earlier?

I’m up for trying a virtual fitting (looking at you @Despos) :)

I bought a bolt of fabric from B/S/T and I am going to have my very first bespoke suit made. Having never gone through the process, I'd love to know what to expect, what pitfalls to avoid, what details I need to be able to communicate to my tailor, and any advice the learned denizens of this forum can offer to make sure the experience goes as smoothly as possible.
Who is this BST where individuals can place single orders?
Thanks
