Aportnoy is really in his own league.

Probably closer to 5x but still, I believe this is true.

They will remark to themselves, "Not only did our civilized ancestors have nice shoes...they all had the same sized foot. How fantastic it must have been to live above ground!"

Bespoke shoes are the next thing that I'll be looking into since I suddenly have both a somewhat local possibility and also one of the well-known makers who does not typically travel to Boston has offered to fly up to see me whenever they're in NYC.

in the case this means anything to someone except bill. i keep my gemmed shoes away from my custom made numbers...

This is my favorite perennial Styleforvm topic of all time: "Career speculation".

I'll go first: el capitan of a major international drug cartel.

On this wall, top row? No gemming. Bottom row? With gemming and could explode any moment.

No Aldens on this wall. They're on the North wall.

You mention above how you have five of exactly the same shoe and would like more duplicates. How many more would please you? One? Two? Three? Let's say two. That's seven of exactly one shoe but in different colors and leathers. One for every day of the week, I guess.

Now, this will blow you mind: what if one does not want to wear the same shoe over and over again with only the color or leather being different? Let's say one likes, oh, a black calf cap toe oxford? Well, how about one in brown? In oxblood? In dark reverse calf? In light reverse calf? How about a cap toe derby with broguing?

How about Norwegians? How about loafers? What shoes favor summer? Which winter? Which the week? Which the weekend? Black calf pumps? Check. But sometimes, patent leather is more fun. Other times, an Albert. And so on.

By and large, all the shoes that I have are basic, classic shoes just in a variety of permutations no greater than that which you continue to desire for your OneShoe.

Also: just keep in mind that there is aportnoy manning the Footwear Frontier. From his vantage, you and I are about the same.

Mortals.

I noticed you left out boat shoes. Surely, you have a need for shoes when on a boat. How about American boat shoe? How about English boat shoes? Surely, you have boat shoes made from some of the finer English makers, like John Lobb, right?

What always astonished me about aportnoy's shoe collection, at least according to some of his infrequent sales threads, was that his shoes varied in size.
