I think it's awful when the reason why a spouse doesn't take the other's last name is because she doesn't want to be mistaken for a race other than her own.
Really? If I were a purchased Philipino bride, I might be reluctant to take the last name "Hitler," not matter how generous my new septugenarian husband might be.
I think that there are some other exceptions, for example if you decided to be polygamous with a woman named High Speed.
There is always hyphenation as a option, e.g. Long-Dong.
