Olive suit- what shoes?

Is this colour considered olive or moss green? In any case, the same suit with three different colours of shoe for your reference. God I miss the winter.

Lad Musician. Cut is trim, materials are nice, workmanship is average to above average, price is very reasonable.

Moss. Olive is kicked more toward the brown.

I think yfyf's suit is very different from the type of suit the original poster was asking about. Having a two-colour window pane, yfyf's suit is technically a tweed suit. Though it seems to be made from a tweed-like worsted. This is very different from a plain olive worsted "business" suit.

Green, along with other earth-tones, are always appropriate for tweeds.

It depends on the shade of the olive, the material used and the manner of the cut and styling of the suit (formal vs. casual).


The darker and more formal the olive in terms of material, cut and styling, then the darker the shoe should be including black. For casual you would be able to select from a wider range of shoe leathers and colors than for mainstream businesses but it would probably pay to keep them relatively dark.

The reverse is true for lighter shades of olive or more casual fabrics where you could go the white buck or spectator route.

But there is a grey (or olive-grey) area because for more casual materials or cuts in a dark shade of Olive you might get away with much more casual leathers or lighter colors than would otherwise be the case.

As usual trial and error along with developing an eye with what looks elegant and/or aesthetically pleasing should be your guideline.

There is that to consider as well.

But men do wear them and they have a foot in the natural shouldered tradition as a cotton poplin suit, not to mention, men wear olive odd pants in a variety of materials. Thus, it is as good to discuss what shoe styles/colors to wear with such a spectrum.

I do not fancy olive much. No good reason. I just do not like it. I would avoid cordovan #8 with olive. .

I'm wearing a solid olive drab wool/cotton suit and I'm wearing black shoes, although I've also worn brown suede and chili calfskin with this suit.
