The loss is massive. Amazon makes an obscene amount of revenue every year, so it has the money to blow on "riskier" ventures like content streaming and original TV and film productions.Amazon is determined to spend a billion dollars making that show. I'd love to know how its viewer stats stack up. It's gotta be a financial loss, but just how massive?
The trailer was a breath of a fresh air. No countdowns. No "Trailer. Starts. Now." bullshit. No spoilers. They don't make trailers like they used to.
Speaking of bombs, I saw an article recently saying that the legendary bomb, John Carter, is actually a decent movie, and that its failure was due to bad marketing and crazy budget overruns. So I gave it a shot. It's definitely bad, but it's not terrible, at least not epically so. I can believe it was one of the most expensive movies ever made, because it does not look cheap, and for a twelve year old movie, the CGI holds up reasonably well.
