Rewatched “The Last Jedi” this week. It was better than I remembered. The casino/horse scenes were still bad but not ruinous.
This kind of makes me want to rewatch the Sequel Trilogy. I remember being disappointed with them in a lot of ways, but maybe now that some time has passed I might find they're more charming than I remember. We'll see!

The only one I haven’t watched multiple times is RoS. I may need to go back and watch it again since as awful as it can be at times it has its moments.

The Kylo vs Ray stuff was good and I enjoyed Kylo’s redemption seeing a vision of Han. When he rushed in to save Ray at the end Adam Driver did an excellent job portraying him as a different character. He felt like Ben Solo and not Kylo. There are great nods in his performance to his father.

Most of the film annoyed me for reasons I've discussed before.

Ugh. More tiresome cartoon callbacks.

Counterpoint. Now there is ONE PERSON in charge of the future of Star Wars. Like a Kevin Feige to the MCU. You may like Filoni’s past work or not, but IMHO, what Star Wars needs is a singular voice with a vision. Imagine if one person was in charge of the overall arch of the sequel trilogy, how that might have gone??

Also, the Titanic only had one Captain... ;)

(just a generational thing with me I think. I'll stick to stuff like Andor and pass on the rest)

If it was Filoni, it would've been a live action Clone Wars/Rebels. We know, because that covers basically everything he's done for the last 5-7 years. Dude can't move on.

Would that have been worse, potentially, than three completely disjointed and incoherent movies that went nowhere and introduced no new characters that anyone cares about?

Depends. Do you think it's better to take some risks that may not work, or to rehash the same characters and stories that reward only the most dedicated fans?

Personally, I can't say which I think is worse, only that I've largely lost interest in the entire franchise.
