All I know is that I'm steadily losing interest in all things Star Wars. I knew from the moment they announced the sale that Disney was going to extract every possible dime from the franchise until there was nothing left but a desiccated husk. This constant stream of mediocre material, content for content's sake, is just not worth my time.

TL;DR- The Mandolorian needs to get interesting, quick.

Well it wasn't like Lucas was doing anything with the franchise other than comics, novels and an occasional animated cartoon. He was happy making banks off of merch sales and didn't seem to have any intention to move the franchise forward after the PT.

We are finally getting new SW content which in my mind is a good thing. Not all of it is going to appeal to everyone. Overall I've been satisfied with the progress made.

Same here. I stopped halfway through last week's episode as I got bored. Likely aging out of Star Wars. Read the synopsis of last night's episode. More call backs and cameos. Might just circle the wagons around Tolkien and call it a day.

Want to catch up on Ted Lasso and Apple's new climate change show could be interesting.

That usually happens between episode 3 or 4. If not it is dead on arrival for most seasons.

Disney star wars is crap so far based on the current collection. That is what happens when you subvert storytelling with political agenda.

Amazon is doing far worse to Tolkein. My two beloved childhood lores are being systematically destroyed. A sign of the times I fear.

Biggest problem with Amazon's Tolkien is that they don't have the rights to the Silmarillion. Bezos should have ushed harder and maybe spent more to get those. I enjoyed the Rings of Power and was inspired to go back and re-read much of the source material.

My biggest complaint was adding the Wizards (assuming that's Gandalf) an age too early. They need Cirdan too but I read he's showing up in the next season.

Definitely. As long as he is not some weirdo dandy like they have seemingly turned every male character into. Not to mention omitted lots of key people and events along the way. Im sure in the spirit of expediency to their detriment. Visually nice too. I also just can’t handle manladriel. She is was perfect as described and written before.

I imagine that if we had social media during OT times, there’d be complaints that having Lando head up Bespin station is a sign of wokeness, and that having Leia take charge in episode 4 (“Someone’s gotta save our skins”) was forcing a woman into a leadership role.

Same ****. New day.

Sci-Fi has always been used as a vehicle to make political and social statements. It's one of the genre's strengths.

For example, the original Star Trek (as problematic as it was) featured the first kiss of a white male and black female on tv. You have to know certain people at the time felt that an "agenda" was being shoved in their faces.

Putting it in someone's face or shoving it down someone's throat, aka existing. Seriously, it's indistinguishable from saying Jack Reacher is shoving jazz down people's throats or putting it in their face.
