I've seen only a few of Kirby's videos - his "reviews" - and they were just blatantly straight-up marketing mouthpiecing. Even worse than Simon
He is. But videos and travel are expensive!

Crompton currently features an £8500 overcoat and proudly displays its ugly gaping pleat in the back.

Crompton always looks the same whatever he wears, whatever he spends.

On the picture you allude to he is reaching his arms forward, which means that the back pleat has to open to be functional. There is no significant gap otherwise.
Not my favorite coat though, especially at this price point.

A very weird design I agree. Indeed very technically proficient, like a true Victorian tailoring. But then you do you really want to look Victorian?

I thought that he does not pay full price as he advertises the brands? That or he gets them for free.

It's basically a blazer coat (blazer with long skirt)

Total Style over substance

It doesn't add up

I doubt someone would pay £7500 (~$10,000) or anything close for clothes he might wear 2 times every month, when he hasn't even paid off his mortgage

Also, he doesn't own a car. Can you imagine traveling on public transport, rubbing shoulders with the riff raff, in expensive gear?

Regarding the recent trend of Crompton favouring soft tailored jacket, old fogey, geography teacher look.
It all looks very same-y regardless of tailor.

Crompton's slope shoulders & narrow frame doesn't help

No person under 40 should wear that - it just makes them look older & projects a certain boring image

One could buy a used Ralph Lauren sports jacket from Ebay, have it altered & it would look just as good - and much cheaper than his bespoke numers

I kinda like the geography teacher look to be honest.

What would you suggest for his sloped shoulders, more structure?

Definitely something like his Caraceni blazer:

Nicoletta Caraceni said to Simon: "People have their different styles, I know this. You and I have talked about this, and you know I don’t like the shoulders of your other suits - they look so sad, they go down. But I can see the style there, that is different."

Do you have any examples of his sports jackets that you feel particularly fit that 'old fogey, geography teacher' look? Interested to know if I agree, or vehemently disagree!

Arguably, Drake's has an entire brand vision based on the geography teacher look, no?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
