Books - Sentient frozen beings = Other
Books - Snow Zombies = White Walker
Show - Sentient frozen beings = White Walker
Show - Snow Zombies = Wights

I watched an interview with the directors. They said they changed it because it was potentialy confusing to the audience to have characters talk about the "others"
They thought the TV audience would get too confused about who they where refering to so hence White Walkers and Wights.
