Now I would love to pick a pair on the 81 in calf. Just can't find many Trickers boots on that last. Its a damn shame because it is so nice. I enjoy all three lasts but if I am wearing slimmer pants or more formal pants it works well.

Oh yeah. Just for reference, the top pair is alden and the bottom 2 are Carmina. Heard back from Richard this afternoon and the Trickers soft square last in question is called 4537. Same last used for Piccadilly, Belgrave, Kensington and Mayfair.

I'm thinkin a navy or teak captoe cordovan boot would be teh sex

I have a pair of the Belgrave, they're nice. I think you're right about the teak.

nice - yes the 4537 models have tighter welts (and also closed-channel soles on at least some of the leather-soled versions)...

btw - will trickers do a veldtschoen boot for GMTO?

That's a no on the veldtschoen. Tricker's stopped doing that years ago. I've prodded Richard about it and he checked into it and reported Tricker's would do it for him as an exclusive model. The catch is that he would have to front a sizable amount.

Dunno if the 81 comes in a 6 width, but past GMTOs the factory has required everyone get the same width.

I wear the same size as I do in the 2298 last. As for how I like it, it's very good. Seems to match up well with my foot.

Namor, do you know if the 81 last comes in wider widths?

zippy is correct again, we can pick any size but width has to be the same

Oh I know, I was just curious if someone already knew before I emailed Richard. I always have to do single MTOs for the width.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
