Seem to be really liking my recent pick-up. They fit my casual wear and more casual days at the office, so already wore them frequently. So much that I'm contemplating adding the Richard Longwings in Peanut Reverse to my collection as well.

Does anyone know if this 'Waxy Reversed Suede' by Tricker's is the same as C.F. Stead's Rough-Out that many other brands use?

And would Dubbin wax be the best care for this type of leather, or could I also use another product that's already in my shoecare kit (Renovateur, Renovateur-spray, oiled leather creme)? I assume these shoes need very little (once a year maybe).

We'd recommend Saphir oiled leather creme, little lighter than Dubbin

I originally thought was waxed kudu as they used the same name and it’s same shade but think that was either debunked or not confirmed. Waxy Commander will patina more but both are great casual leathers.

Anyone had a pair of the “lightweight” models converted to have the standard tricker’s treatment? I can only find the model I’m after in lightweight, but I’d really prefer the leather, cork, etc. Seems silly paying the MTO premium for what could be part of a normal resole.
I’ve done it several times. I’ve used shoe healer to add a leather mid and then chose whatever outer.

The naming had me confused as well, but this one's not Kudu. Asked in their Instagram and they told me it's oiled and waxed full grain calf.

I'll just use the Oiled Leather Creme by Saphir once a year or so. I'm curious how it'll evolve with one shoe already showing more nap than the other. Overall it feels durable, weather resistant and requiring minimal maintenance. On the other hand almost no break-in or creasing, so really best of both worlds, thus I might want to add another reversed suede to my casual rotation.

Hello,
I am going to buy my first pair of Tricker's boots in last 4497s. I have 270 mm foot length. What size can you recommend me? Or can you compare 4497s with C&J's 335 last? Should I take same size? Thank you for advices.
Cant comment on your specifics. But i stay true to size wuen buying w2298

Also true to size on 4997s. They are pretty wide in the front, but not very long. Sizing down will likely push your toes or heels.

The 4997s is my favorite last out of the 10-15 shoes/brands or so that I tried. W2298 (also TTS) is okay, but pushes my pinky toe a bit on the larger foot.

Only C&J's I can compare them to are the 325 last which I think is similar as the 4497s and is probably my 2nd best fitting shoe.

4497 is an amazing fit. Like a mould round the feet

Weird stuff but last night I dreamt I was trying on a pair of derbys in the W2298 last. Beautiful leather and what not but thank **** they were tight so I didn't buy more shoes even in my fantasies. :p
