White Mughals by William Dalrymple. Excellent book based on historical sources. Destroys many myths prevalent today.

Not all of them, I don't think. It has a sampling from different illustrators, sometimes showing different takes of the same theme. I figured it was time to read through the entire Canon. This is the original Gould annotated. A new 2 vol. annotated has just come out. I need to get it.
