When visiting London, I ordered a MTM suit (coat and trousers) from Edward Sexton in Savile Row. The suit is of worsted wool in the range of Super 120s/150s. The suit was delivered to the U.S. several weeks ago and fits perfectly - the tailor had narrowed the waist significantly to accentuate the shoulders and had even exchanged the lapels from peak-style to notch-style. Further smaller adjustments were made throughout the suit jacket.
Upon closer inspection, however, I noticed various loose threads (I am unclear of whether these qualify as "snags" or "pulls" so I will refer to them as "loose" from now on). These protrusions are anywhere from 1mm to 3mm in length. Several simply hang loosely while others are loops. I have noticed maybe 6 occurrences of these abnormalities on the jacket. They are located mostly near the lapels and pockets - notably, the back, sleeves, and trousers don't have of these loose threads.
The below picture depicts a cluster of these loose threads along with a zoomed out picture of where they reside on the suit.
In initial discussion with the tailor over email, he mentioned that several could be tack stitches - however, as mentioned before, some of these are loose and don't seem to hold together multiple parts of the coat. For example, this is what I'd imagine is a tack stitch, and it clearly doesn't have the "protruding" quality of the aforementioned "loose threads".
I was initially dismayed by the sight of these threads, but thought I'd reach out about what these might be, and how to resolve them either myself or with my local tailor in the U.S. I do err on the side of being rather particular of the quality of my clothing, which is further compounded by the value of the suit and prestige of the manufacturer. This is my first MTM suit so I would love to hear that these abnormalities are quite usual and I am overreacting!
