To contribute to this thread, I've bought a single Malt at my local package store (that's what we call em here in Jawja lol)

Auchentoshan $19.99 /bottle.. don't know if it's this cheap everywhere, but it's been the same price here for like a year.

Some of them are alright. They are good for the price.

picked up 2 750s of Evan Williams for 18 which I think is about as good as I can get without swiping another subway ride. It isn't bad, I just like Old Grand Dad better even if it costs nearly twice as much.

Also, I really like Cycles Gladiator cabernet sauvignon at $8 a bottle, but I'd like to find something preferably in the $4-6 range for more regular consumption. I just can't spend more than $15 on a bottle of wine when there's so much other stuff to buy on my limited and rapidly deflating paychecks.

Simple Times is decent for the price, and the convenience of the can. It's good session beer, but nothing to write home about. I buy it, I drink it, and I guess I write to strangers on the internet about it, but I don't push it on strangers at the store standing near me in front of the beer (which I will do if someone looks indecisive standing in front of a bottle of Rogue Brutal Bitter, for example).

Can someone chime in for the UK? Beer and wine are reasonably priced here, but liquor is pricey for some reason.

Any bourbons, ryes, tequilas, rums, etc are way more than US prices
