Mismatched shoes - interesting detail or trying-too-hard affectation?

Yeah, it's none other than Nick Wooster doing this, but what do you guys think of mismatched shoes?

Does it scream trying too hard? Interesting as a 10th+ pair of shoes? Advanced Only technique?

Advanced only technique for the serious dandy.

However, in this particular case the two shoes are so similar it's actually almost sophisticated - in that were you to encounter this person in real life you might not ever notice. But would notice only if you looked pretty closely. Sort of an actually clever sartorial 'slight of hand' or in this case 'slight of foot'! (Sorry)

Certainly don't intend to try this one myself however.

This look is only advisable if you find yourself constantly chased around the world by wannabe art school drop out trust fund kids whose blogs depend on you never wearing the same things twice, if you have the wardrobe and disposable time of a former fashion/retail house creative director dismissed under mysterious circumstances, or if you are forced to wear two different shoes because your right shoe is covered in baby batter after you stepped too close to the Tumblr circle jerk being held in your name.

Sigh. It's a Mark McNairy thing. It's not like Wooster actually owns 2 different pairs of shoes, both in the same color of pebble grain leather.

Foo does this on occasion. Sometimes, when he's feeling edgy, he wears his left Monday oneshoe with his right Wednesday oneshoe!

Seriously though, this look goes perfectly with the camo-leopard pants, or whatever they are. This is different-to-be-different and is, therefore, the definition of lame. He'll be wearing one glove next.
