I am in the market to comission a new suit. My quality hurdle is that I could buy a $600 Spier and MacKay suit that will probably do the job just fine...but it's nice to have a bit more input on some stylistic details. I am an easy fit and have had really good success with MTM and also RTW.

Most of the threads on the subject on here lead to these three solutions, which are at the price points below for MTM:

No Man Walks Alone: $1,770 - $2,295
Alan Flusser: $2,600 - $3,300
The Armory: $3k-$3.5k

NMWA is in practicality the top end of my budget. Anything more expensive than that, and the traveling tailor options are out. I Just wanted to double check if there's any other interesting propositions that I'm missing. Its kind of funny (and perhaps telling) that in a city with dozens of custom tailors listed on google maps, 90% of recommendations on here go to these three programs. Thanks for any suggestions and help!

If you can drive to Toronto, you can do Samuelsohn made to measure starting at around $1,700 USD.

Or suitsupply.

Two more in NYC to check out:Franco Ercole in Brooklyn. Not sure if they do MTM.

Martin Greenfield, also in Brooklyn. Famous tailor, who died last year. Firm continues.
Does MTM direct to clients and for High-end Retailers, eg. Nieman Marcus, etc.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
