Merino Wool Knits in the Summer?

Greetings,

I have come across a merino wool summer knit at Grand le Mar. They claim it is a replica of a knit seen in the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley" which takes place in Italy in the summer. Would a knit/shirt made of (merino) wool really be suitable in the summer - when temperatures can rise over 30 C?

I look forward to input!

Of course...i use in summer over 30C slim, thin merino wool polo/1/4zip because merino wool has a very high resistance to smell...so even if you sweat you dont smell in merino wool. For me merino wool/silk/cotton are the way for my summer day

I was in Italy last summer and pretty much wore a merino wool tee-shirt the whole time. I had two that I switched back and forth between over 10 days. As mentioned above, they resist odors, so I didn't need to do laundry.
They were a bit itchy at first but I got used to it. No problems with heat - and it certainly was hot/humid over there.
