I'm going to start a poll on this...
A client came into my office today to add some scheduled jewelry to his homeowners policy, and he shows me this appraisal for a $121,000 (yes that much, no typo!) men's diamond bracelet he keeps in his safe.
He also has a collection of nice Cartier watches, so he's not a complete looney

I couldn't believe a man would spend that much on a bracelet - on a Patek I understand, but a frigin bracelet to keep in the same?!?
Am I the only one who thinks men should spend their money on nice watches instead of bracelets?

Bracelets on men are unbelievably lame. I can't fathom how someone could do such a thing when there are so many great watches to buy instead.

And 100k on one? Who is your client, Floyd Mayweather?!

Men's bracelets are ok if it's something unobtrusive like those wooden prayer bracelets or stuff like that. A diamond bracelet is a definitive no go. Jewelry for men should be elegant, not OMG-WTF-Look-at-me!

How do you figure?
You don't know who I am, where I work, who I work for, who the client is, where he works, where he lives - just that he's a man who has a nice bracelet and some Cartiers...

I own a couple simple sterling silver Tiffany bracelets that are narrow in width and restrained in design. They were gifts from my grandparents, and I enjoy wearing them mostly for their sentimental value. I do like the Frank Gehry for Tiffany "Torque" cuff in brushed silver, and may add that in the next year or so.

In general though I don't much care for men's jewelry, especially in gold; David Yurman in particular makes some of the gaudiest, overpriced men's jewelry I've ever seen.

I believe I have bought stuff from you before off B&S. If I had kept the package I would have your name and address. That'd be a starting point in figuring out the other information.

Not a fan.

Used to wear one when I was young and dumb.

I find that European men wear them more than the Americans. Period.

Depends on the bracelet, same for watches. Most luxury watches are unbelievably ugly and an insult to my delicate taste, jewellery is often the same. To say that spending 121K on a watch is ok but 121K on a bracelet is stupid though, both are obviously adornments without a hint of a practical value.

I find the ability to tell the time to be of immense value.
