Dressing gowns kinda neat but not really applicable anymore, at least in any circle I move in. Nice look but I would need to live the UES party life, Hamptons, and also with an elegant mistress…
For an ordinary dressing gown around the house? Maybe for a delicate silk, but I use a few wool ones regularly.

What? These aren't applicable to you? 😂

I took this picture in London a few weeks back.

I must be crazy, because I'd wear any of those to read the paper at home in a heartbeat, though I lack in estates. Of course, it would have to be the right kind of paper.
I really like them as well but would likely lazily still wear flannel PJ pants and a tshirt whilst lounging. I mean RL flanenel PJs and Merz Schwannen shirts, but still…

Curious how often (if ever) y'all press your linen tailored wear? I don't think I'm ever going to futz around trying to work out jacketing wrinkles (excuse me, rumples lol), but at some point I'm going to get miffed about aggressive trouser creasing.

I'm rational enough to never expect pristine looking trews (though I'm sure more talented ironers could get close), but would like them looking decent.

Yes, you have to embrace that wrinkled /rumpled look, but at some point it will be too much and a good ironing will be required.

Mostly at end of season or if I completely sweat it on a hot summer day.

I press linen trousers pretty much after every wear, after cleaning. This is not because I prefer the look of un-rumpled trousers, but because I prefer my rumples to be set anew each day.

Of course, I also iron all my cotton and linen shirts before each wearing. I've always done this habitually, but I'm now being told that it is no longer fashionable. I don't think this is because people are lazier. I suspect that it is because people prefer to wear plastic clothes more often, and those have the same physical reaction to the iron as my cousin Will did to the oysters Rockefeller last spring (that is to say, not good).

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
