Ok cool, kind of what I figured. A quick Google search didn't give me the answer so thought I'd ask just in case.

Luxire, is the Cotton-Linen Blue Chambray thin and shiny?

It is not think, but the weave is open. It is not shiny.

Responded to the shoe offer within 2 minutes of the Luxire post hitting the site. I too had questions about the details, but have yet to receive a response. I followed up again, maybe that will work.

I have been following this thread closely, as I have been becoming rather "meh" about another MTM clothing company I have used for shirts. I also became interested in the trousers after seeing the posts by clapeyron. Has anyone that responded to the shoe offer been acknowledged by email? :/

I'm not one of the shoe experts, but Goodyear welting is basically the machine adaptation of hand welting. There's a canvas rib inserted so that the sole can be stitched to the rest of the shoe, which can wear out eventually. In held welting, there's no need for the canvas, it's all leather-on-leather contact.

That pretty much sums it up. Handwelting prevents the possibility of a small probability failure (gemming) but that doesn't seem to translate into a much longer lifespan since there's a lot of other factors that will break first.. The more practial application is that a handwelt allows a much narrower waist on the shoe.

I'm in the same boat. Emailed right after the post went up and haven't heard a thing. Hoping to hear back from them on this soon.

Luxire,

Would love to get in on the initial shoe tests. Can you explain the difference between oak, chestnut and waxy mimosa soles? Also, I assume hand welted is just as durable as Goodyear welted, just done completely by hand? Any major difference there? Thanks.
Hand welting, provided it is done well, should be more durable than a Goodyear welt. There was a pretty intense thread on this awhile back http://www.styleforum.net/t/153269/deconstructed-fashion-plate

For comparison, what weight are your other linens, say Blue End-on-End Linen or Blue Chambray Linen?
I ordered this swatch, along with many others. I'll be sure to post comparison pictures and microshots when they come in for everyone.

I guess you're referring to the English spread. Yeah, I think I'll give that a go with longer tips. Saw a picture I liked a few pages back with English spread 3.5 inch tips:
Thanks :D Same collar, different shirt

Any comments on the fit of this shirt? I'm pretty happy overall, just wanted to get a second opinion before I start bulk-ordering.
Maybe slight adjustment in the back but looks good to me. You don't want it too tight, but you have to be comfortable.
