Hello all,

I'm looking for an overcoat for this winter--my first in the Northeast in about a decade. I would like something single breasted that I can wear over a suit. Open to different colors. Warmth is a priority. Budget is up to 400, though I would prefer to stay at 300 or under.

What do people think of the options below Luigi Biancha Montova? Do you know about their overcoat sizing--should I size up (my suits come in at about a 39s)?

Very open to other options as well.

Many thanks.

I just tried one one very recently, and would definitely size up. My suit size is 38R, and a 40 was too small for me.

As far as the coat itself, the fabric was very nice (100% virgin wool) but it was unlined, (read the description closely, some of the ones you linked are partially lined) and lightweight, so even with a lining I wouldn't use it in NYC.

J Crew offers one with a Thinsulate lining that would seem warm, but the sizes were very weird and ran very small. Listed at 470 but 25%-30% off is very common. Made in China though...

I'm also intrigued by this one, but can't try it on as there are no outlets in NYC.

Have you tried eBay? There are very nice pre owned coats for very cheap.
