hi there,
have recently been adding to my wardrobe of tailored clothing, and my next step is going to be trying out chan--have made an appointment with them for their upcoming visit to san francisco. my biggest challenge so far has been outerwear--i'm a 43 short at 5'7"--42's are a touch too small, 44's are too big (despite the fact that 54c suits and jackets from kiton/borrelli/isaia seem to fit reasonably well), and everything is too long. specifically, i'm looking for 1) a somewhat dressy overcoat to be layered over suits (mainly for trips to ny and boston in the winter), 2) a knee length or shorter mac (something like what pg has been sporting in waywrn)--potentially with a button-out lining, 3) a peacoat in a length that would be appropriate for me (ideally in a nicer fabric--cashmere or cashmere-wool blend). i know shortening an otr style might be a decent bet for the overcoat or mac, but i'm concerned about the too-low pocket stance and have fit issues anyway with standard sizes.
so, my questions:
1) are there any good mtm outerwear options out there? i've asked about burberry, borrelli, cuccinelli, etc., and the answer seems to be no. kiton seems to do it, but i'm not interested in paying $6K for outerwear at this stage in my life.
2) has anyone tried chan for outerwear? do they do a good job on commissions of this type? do they typically bring outerwear fabrics on tour? should i tell them ahead of time that i may be interested in this?
many thanks for any responses.
