Looking for a classic-modern sofa, budget $2 to $2.5k

I live in proximity to Chicago so recommendations for stores around the city are welcomed.

Do not mind buying used as most of the good-looking designs are vintage anyway.

The room is narrow, looking for a maximum length of ~96" and not too obtrusive.

Either fabric or leather; would love a light gray wool flannel.

On a side note, what would be the ballpark costs of reupholstering an existing sofa in said fabric?

I live in the North Shore and there are 4 furniture stores closing and liquidating inventory. We just got a beautiful leather couch at a little over 75% off. That place has closed already but Plunket and Barnhardt are still open and having big sales. Pretty picked over though.

Just out walking around the Merchandise Mart and saw several 50-70% off signs at various furniture stores in that area and River North. Some businesses closing, some moving, some offering floor samples.

Luminaire is the best store in Chicago for contemporary furniture, but I suspect that most of the couches there will be out of your budget. For $2-2.5k, I would go with something vintage. Even with shipping costs factored in, you should be able to find a really nice designer couch on ebay if you do some searching (you'll certainly pay less than buying from one of the Chicago vintage design dealers, or a Wright auction).
