Please, because I don't like your Common or Kweli crap I don't know what I am talking about? I thought taste was subjective. Since you are such a scholar on hip hop, lets go old school and give me some of the classic artist that represent hip hop the way you believe it should. And I don't consider the 1990's old school. I'm talking late 70's/early eighties. I'm talking about before Run DMC blew up with "Sucker MC", I'm talking before Kurtis Blow became the first rapper to do a verse on a non rap song (Chaka Khan). I'm talking about T La Rock, Cold Crush Brothers, Furious Five, Melle Mel etc etc. Let's hear your take on that period of rap.
no, he clearly said "worst lyrics ever". "lyrics" and "what they are talking about". that doesnt mean delivery.
Fish is also, my favorite dish .
Words and content are two different things. Someone can rap about going to the deli and getting milk and make it interesting in the same way that someone can rap about an infinitely interesting topic and make it very boring.
BTW, your boy Common was interviewed a day or two ago. He was asked about the "controversial" current top ten MC's list that MTC put together (Lil Wayne was 1, Common was in the top five I think.) When he was asked who are his personal top rapper right now, after mentioning Fabolous and Papoose and Jay Z, he said that Lil Wayne is essentially the best out right now. So I guess he doesn't know what he is talking about either.
you're right about making something interesting or dull, but that doesn't differentiate words and content. what someone is saying = content.

Common is the knowledge, best to check your facts;
I'm not sure Lil Wayne won't be around, given he has made it 10+ years already.
