Think I’ve been there once. 5th Ave, right?

Did you ever make it to Felix Roasters?
They have crazy expensive specialty coffee drinks
Have 3 locations now.
I went to felix a few years ago and liked it. Its near my hotel this weekend so we may go. Side note pb or other NYers let me know if you want to keet up

That’s just my reaction to any name like that: dapper, suited, bespoke, and other overused menswear terms. Also what would you be doing with an iron in the kitchen? Pressing grilled cheeses?

Sorry for my grumpiness.

My pops has been in the hospital for two weeks (he’s on the mend from a meningioma) so I’ve been burning through the coffee making it for the neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses, and now rehab folks. Had to buy some locally because of how quickly I’ve been using it. Picked up my first-ever bag from Onyx, https://onyxcoffeelab.com/products/colombia-aponte-village-honey

It’s 5 days off roast, so probably needs some more rest, but overall I’m impressed. Beans are super consistent looking in the bag. Using my usual Kalita Wave, getting lots of fruit.

Hope they appreciate your efforts and hope your father has a full recovery.
I’m a Lance Hedrick fan. Know of Onyx by his association with them.
Tried them once a few years ago.

I've been there...

My friend lives there and I was out for his son's wedding.
Food was great, the coffee was great.
Every employee had a lumberjack beard, hipster fade haircut, and wore flannel.
Including the females.

Hope your dad gets better.

I appreciate it. It was looking pretty grim there for a few days but his turnaround has been remarkable.

In my day job I’m an academic librarian, and my pops would often call me when he was out near my campus to ask if I knew where he could get a “tedious cup of coffee.” He felt like it was just a tad too fussy, though he really enjoyed the product. I figured the aroma might help wake him up, and the folks in the SICU were big fans of the coffee. Seemed like a win/win since he woke up on day 5 and the care team kept stopping by to check on him and enjoy a cup. I’ve plowed through nearly 40 ounces of beans in 17 days!

It’s looking like he may be out of rehab next week so I’m feeling good about things.

Much appreciated. Those bearded ladies are roasting some good beans!

anyone try bolivian coffee? Varietals like typica and gesha seem to be popular due to the favorable climate at high altitude. Mostly micro-lots so not producing huge volume but really tasty nonetheless.

Glad to hear your dad is better! I love Onyx and don't think it's a stretch to say that's what fixed him up! ;)

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
