As to the quality of gargoyle dogs, compare them to these: http://www.dragonslayerkennels.com/females.htm Scroll down to Sasha.

How the hell this guy can keep a straight face when he charges 2.5K for a stud service for his POS is unbelievable to me.

WTF?? That can't be healthy at all. Wouldn't the width of that dog lead to shoulder problems? Let alone its freakish looks..

Thanks for the info about Gargoyle dogs. Do you have any idea of what they typically charge for a dog? I can't seem to find anyone talking about it. They seem to have the best combination of bulldog features, health, temperment and physical ability. Have you seen any other breeders with similar dogs??

Thanks again.

Best thing to do is call Chadde or one of the breeders in his club. Top of my head ... 2 - 2.5K for a puppy. Not cheap.

I note that just about all of these reconstructed "bulldogges," while they may have more athletic physiques than the typical AKC Bulldog, nonetheless seem to retain the very short muzzle of the latter. I would have to ask why, in view of the fact that the greater part of the show Bulldog's health and respiratory problems come from the damn pushed-in muzzle.

Just about all the performance "molossers"--be they the old-time 18th and early 19th century bull dogs, Tosas, Argentine Dogos, working American Bulldogs, APBTs, Rotts, etc.--have powerful medium length muzzles. Lefty (or anyone else), is there any advantage whatsover (other than a comical, somewhat human-like appearance) to the extremely flat faces of Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Bostons and many DDBs?

Extreme brachycephalic? No. Undershot? Possibly.

If an undershot dog has a solid grip and pulls down and back to some extent he drives the lower jaw up and into the bite. Boxers with their short muzzles and undershot jaw can have a solid bite if their teeth are large enough. Mind you, this is all theory as there are so many factors involved in biting.

The bulldogge reconstructionists are trying to create a healthier somewhat functional bulldog and not the ultimate working dog. It is a novelty but a fun one if done well. If you want a bulldog with a functional head and muzzle, get a pitbull.

I realize you guys might not have an answer to this, but recently my dog seems more lethargic than usual and lays around with her tongue sticking out constantly (when in air conditioning, so it isnt hot.) She is 3 now and didnt always do this (but she has always been exceedingly lethargic.) Also, she has coordination problems when sitting sometimes- she just falls over. In addition, she will occasionally miss a step when walking down stairs and fall. The coordination issues arent always present and lethargy is not completely outside the norm for her, so I havent been alarmed. However, I dont know whether the combination of these issues presents cause for concern. I have done some research, but havent really turned up anything. Some of you know so much about dogs that I thought I would field the question. Thanks.

I'm not a vet or a doctor, so take this for what it's worth.... My father got a virus last year that affected his inner ear. It affected his balance so badly that he couldn't walk and it caused vomiting due to motion sickness (the room was spinning). I think he went on some anti-virals and it eventually went away, but it took a long time before his balance was recovered (about a month). What does someone do when they can't walk without falling over? They tend to just lay there. :p I'm not your dog has caught a doggy version of the virus, but there's some weird bugs out there. The best thing would be to bring it up with a vet.

^Interesting that practically all the idiots who posted on that CNN blog were outraged at the Court's decision.

Thank heavens the Court struck a blow for freedom and common sense!

Now I can watch my crushing vids with the blinds open.

Have to admit I'm a little surprised by this verdict.

I have a tough time calling these people idiots, I mean I agree with you (and the court) but it's very hard for me to put my emotions to the side on this.
