Here's to learning a foreign language interacting with native speakers:
About 15 years ago I was to spend 2 weeks with a group of Germans in my line of work.
I had spent 2 months prior to that assignment (6-8 hours a day) learning the basic grammar+vocabulary...(pronunciation isn't much of an issue in this case)
The first few days of working with them were a nightmare...by the end of those 2 weeks, I was moderately fluent, could understand well + most importantly, got used to their flow of speech.
From then on, it was relatively easy
