That looks like the one I have. I like it with a chunky sweater and old jeans. Boots work nicely too. I have a pair side zips from Kapital, but military/ combat styles would also work, I think.

I ended up wearing my similar ring coat over a leather jacket (and other short jackets) and sweater when it got real cold this winter. Otherwise, what you said sounds about right. Beat-up stuff goes great with it. And slim black denim.

I dig the oversized shirts. Very Denise Huxtable x hobo Kapital vibes. (Not trying to diss cause Denise was the ****).

Incidentally, @g transistor, have you checked out Older Brother? Seems like it might be kind of your thing.

I like the oversized shirt too. May be even more interesting than the robe coat (while fitting in a close if not same category).

I've seen some of their stuff. Love the turmeric dye—I'm such a sucker for that. Some of the pants with patchwork are nice, but even so, I'd probably prefer to purchase from Japan. I really dislike how a lot of stuff looks short on the body. Some of it's cool, though I would like to see crazier stuff, even the blazemono thing they have is pretty safe at this point. The turmeric kimono thing is beautiful. Sadly, can't seem to find the piece on their website.

I think what I like about Kapital is it's just so much... don't give a ****. Like size, age, whatever, it's just all these cool clothes, doesn't matter who you are. Like there's obviously an identity to it, but also at the same time, just feels like clothes for everyone. I don't quite get that vibe from Older Brother, but I think it could go somewhere.

Giant eyeroll to the interview though. So white douche in Portland. All their talk about slow food and biodynamic farming and crystals on their webshop makes me want to puke. Only a true idiot would buy a 7g piece of quartz for $24.

I've bought a few pieces from Older Brother. It's nice and I like the dyeing and somewhat ant-fit patterns, but that being said what I've bought I got on sale and even then it feels OK and not great. I'm sure what they are making costs them quite a bit to produce, so the prices likely makes sense as cost plus for a small maker. But I don't think what they are doing is quite interesting enough for me to spend the money.

I am intrigued by the whole washi fabric thing. Anyone know of any other iterations of this?

And on this thread side track, I'm a bit intrigued by Dr. Collectors (lookbook). Anyone have any thoughts on it? And I guess it says something about Kapital when this comes off as Kapital-lite.

Last thing: I wonder if Kapital will do more of it's happy denim.

I am more in favor of robes than giant shirts

Me too, but I wouldn't be able to wear the robe for at least 7 months here. There are still some chilly nights/days were a big slouchy overshirt, but not a wool robe.

But then again you make me want to buy the robe again

Yea, the Older Brother stuff feels a bit more basic. I kind of assumed it was part and parcel of being a young collection, but it sounds like you guys are more familiar with the brand than me. I just found out about them. Have they been around for a while?

I like the boxier fits and natural dyes though. Def not as crazy as Kapital, but has this LA vibe I like. Sort of feels like the brand could be at home with things like Tender, Dana Lee, Our Legacy, Sassafras, Tezomeya, etc.

Yeah, I think it was AW15 that caught my eye? They had a wonderful natural purple dye. I don't think they've been around for more than 5 years; they're pretty young. I haven't bought anything from them because I think their ethos is lame, and I've shunned brands for much, much less.

It's a wonderful brand name, though. I dig it a lot.

I'm into boxy fits, but I just can't do short and boxy. It's really hard to pull off and always looks like... too fashiony but at the same time super trashy. Definite Dana Lee vibes, though, and I own a lot of Dana.

Some new things going up at Standard & Strange, including some nice shirts and the Century 123 denim. Oh that price though...

Just found this thread recently and tried to read through the majority of it. Just wanted to ask, as the it was mentioned earlier. So is using zen market as a proxy good/reliable in terms of delivery? I've never tried using one before but Japanese prices are easier to swallow than US dealers that mark up significantly.

100% reliable in my experience.
