I agree. What are you paying for with these shorts? Established boarshorts comapnies already have some really cool fabric technology since they've been in the game for decades like quicksilver's diamond dobby low-friction stretch, etc. Off the top of my head, Outerknown has more modern fitting board shorts with functional fabric:

and a lot of these companies do have a more slim fitting and shorter silhouette option to their standard board shorts (eg. Quicksilver has the retro scalloped ones). Your paying for design? I don't see anything too unique about them... critter patterned shorts are a dime a dozen, Saturdays surf already did the waves pattern, and I'm sure I've seen ombré shorts a couple years back when it was more popular. Don't get me wrong I think when JE puts out unique pieces with custom fabrics it's worth it but all I can see here is paying for the name brand so you can say you're wearing JE everything.

Kind of lame if anyone gets upset. I bought 2 pairs and if I was going off of function he's right. I mainly got them for the print and fit. I personally like the jelly print and would be interested if someone else made it. I doubt my etro shorts function well either (gone in the pool with them though). I will rock mine something like this most of the time. They add a little flair to shorts. I don't know what other type of pattern shorts to get tbh. Feels like board shorts the most easiest and acceptable

I think they are the same denim so prob equally. For me my grey skittles and cropped white have stretched the most. They prob the lightest and most elastic though.

Some quick pics. The mirage are an xs and jelly are a small. This is what I'm going to keep. I don't think I like the jelly print in the xs. The mirage might be slightly looser or just the way the color is, but I prefer the small in the jelly after several try ons

Yes it is. That color works well with the mirage shorts and prob jacket too.
