I'm in the market for some derbies/bluchers...I know this thread may be a bit biased (Japanese leaning) but pound for pound better quality for a derby, John Lofgren or Viberg?

Are you buying new or preowned? Get some RDT Coupens, super comfortable

Speaking of RDT… what’s the deal with the Casper? Can’t find them for sale in my size anywhere.

I’m a big fan of Viberg’s stitchdown derby shoes, especially on leather soles. I’d take those over JL.
Still like GYW Vibergs, but don’t have as strong feelings for them.

Just got the waxed flesh m-43s with a quick comparison to the standard roughouts. Same size but the waxed flesh is noticably tighter over the top of the toes and is much more flat out of the box

Like SLAB said, super popular shoe and the gap between productions has gone up. I preordered in Spring of '23 a pair that was supposed to be produced in Fall of '23 and was not actually produced until August or September of '24. (By that point I had pulled out of the preorder, because f that).

What's the present sizing on the Lofgren m43? Same as Lofgren engineers? I read on S&S they changed in 2023.
I have m-43s and engineers from 2024 both in a size 10. Engineers fit slightly tighter but I think it's necessary for a slip on

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
