Is my suit jacket too short?

Hi everyone. This is my first post so forgive me if I don’t format this properly. I’m unsure whether this suit jacket is too short and emphasizes my hips too much. I’m about 5’6-5’7, and this is a J Crew Ludlow cotton-wool blend suit size 36S. Before you cancel me for the Ludlow, this was an emergency purchase, and I’m trying to make the most of it.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. I might consider ordering the jacket again in 36 regular. Pants are still unfinished.

NB: I might try out Spier & Mackay for my next suit, although I’m a bit hesitant due to sizing. Returns from where I live are impractical. There are also a number of old Italian tailors in Caracas that due to the economic crisis in the country, can make a bespoke suit for relatively cheap. However, let’s just say they might not be very up to date on the latest menswear trends. Some of their cuts are very boxy, from the 80s-90s. One in particular was hellbent on ironing out a three-roll-two blazer into a 90’s style 3-button. So it’s a gamble.

I am very sad to see that such a nice jacket is a problem to fit you, but I am not qualified to judge whereas there are here on Style Forum experts who can.
As a naive layman, my impression is that the jacket waist is too tight for you due to its wrinkles or folds radiating out from the buttoned button. Furthermore the manner in which you wear the jacket puzzles me because to my mind you are sloppy. I think your jacket needs ironing and that you need to pay more attention to how you wear it, no offense intended. I emphasize again that I consider your jacket beautiful, but I am not a tailor.

I agree with @The Dirty Pigeon , try the 36 regular. The short does not fully cover your rear, and going to the regular will also lower the buttoning point on the jacket a bit.

It might be a little snug in the waist; letting it out a bit might be a good idea, but see how the 36R looks first.

You also might have a low right shoulder leading to the right side of the jacket body collapsing a bit. You could try seeing whether a thin pad under the right shoulder helps; this is easy to test out before sewing it in.
