Hi guys, I'm going to have a new Sport Coat

I just wonder if 100% cashmere is suitable for a sport jacket? Can you help to share some experience?

I know some think it is quite hot and hard to take care, but how about its feel and look?i s it casual enough for a sport coat ? many thanks

There’s nothing wrong with 100% cashmere as a sport coat provided it’s not **** cashmere.

it’s certainly something better suited for the cooler months but I wouldn’t call it too hot. Also, cashmere is not any more or less difficult to care for vs. other fabrics. Don’t abuse it, brush the coat after each wear and store properly and it will be fine.

A quality cashmere is suitable for a jacket, either as pure cashmere or as a blend. Loro Piana makes some nice cashmere blends that work well in the summer. I have a couple of jackets made up in LP's summer bunch from last year. And here is my pure cashmere jacket:

I think it works just fine.

On the other hand, if you're worried about the cost or durability of pure cashmere (and it is not as durable, for sure, as wool and, over time, will tend to "droop"), Harrison's Moonbeam bunch, which is wool and angora, has a lot of the feel of cashmere, but the durability and drape of wool.

Absolutely. Except even the best cashmere probably won't
wear as well as an equivalent tweed.

Cashmere won’t wear as hard as tweed but then cashmere not meant for the same purpose either. Nor does tweed behave the same way as cashmere.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
