Based on some earlier reco's I'm close enough to this spot: http://www.yelp.com/biz/r-and-g-lounge-san-francisco If nothing else comes up this looks pretty sweet after a 6.5 hour flight.

the salt and pepper crab at R&G is one of the great pleasures of SF. They also jam you with the "market price" of $38 when everything else on the menu is like $14, but it's still worth it. want again.

What is the scent of date ****? Alcohol with a hint of vomit?

....

Edit: Oh god, this was good, but just can't do it.

PM me!

Since I can't be bothered to look for an LA-hating thread, I'm going to complain here about the fact that you can't get a reliable ******* cellular connection up in that *****. How do all those folks get by on that weak-ass 3G ****? Drains your battery in a couple of hours searching for any hint of a signal.

This is indeed the issue with most Chinese restaurants. At the best ones you can only order single dishes in portions for groups; no meal plates for singles. Virtually every place that does offer meal plates ranges from awful to mediocre.

walked up Kearney and Post ; went to Ghurka -- great bags. Walked up to Japantown; so clean and peaceful and they have a DAISO!!! I saw some great looking bars (Rye ; Whiskey Traders? ; Blur) I came across a place called Hops & Hominiy that looked delicious, but i was stuffed from the crab. I'm actually surfing online now looking for some late night dinner options.

So far, SF has a serious problem with the homeless. It's ******* strange. Plus some of the areas and buildings are straight out of the 80's Bronx.
There are some really chill areas and I'm sure if I step out of the city, I'll be delightfully surprised.

...Was a little winded from the 3 hours of walking after the flight man. Did find some good options close by.

Before the rain comes in today try the Ferry Building. Get some Hog Island oysters and watch the ferrys come and go with a great view of the bay. Next door is The Slanted Door for modern Vietnamese food and cocktails, nice view. About 100 yards away is Hardwater on Pier 3 one of the best bourbon bars anywhere. I've never seen so many bourbon options and they have tasting flights.

The homeless issue is a sad one. So is the dirt and smell along many of the busy streets. :(

Please join YBCA for an evening of gathering dirt—quite literally—featuring a new project by artist Ilana Crispi. The project, “Tenderloin Dirt Harvest: Please be seated on the ground,” invites patrons to drink and eat from ceramic vessels made from Tenderloin soil. The evening features lively discussions and stories gathered from a place we call our next-door neighborhood.
