I used to have that problem, but I realized I sized up, went C width instead. alternative a tongue pad can also help.

I think I did all possible combinations

9.5D (toe box too narrow)
9.5E (heel too loose)
9E (too short)
10D (too long)

I have high ish instep in general and don’t like to use tongue pad (especially loafer) else maybe 10D with tongue pad to push feet back might work, didn’t try

Sounds like Aberdeen isn't for you. I prefer Hampton myself for dress shoes. For more casual shoes, Barrie is good. Not a huge fan of Tremont because of its shape - fit is fine.

LHS fits me well at the forefoot but the heel is too wide. I tried tongue and heel pads but they don’t help much. The Aberdeen fits ok, I wish it was wider at the toe box but I can use it without pain.

I do like tongue pads on other loafer though. I use them on a pair of EG unlined Harrows that became slightly loose under the strap after breaking in. I like them better than heel pads because they push your feet down and back so it grips better at the heel. As opposed to heel pads that push my feet forward and can leave my toes too close to the end of the shoe.

My right foot is half size smaller than the right one and I use a tongue pad on all my loafers, on the right shoe only, to compensate. Works well but only if the last fits well to begin with.
