How to get the stacked effect/bunching?

Okay, this might sound a bit obsessive and scary, but for certain jeans I like them only when they are folded in a certain way near the bottom of the leg. What I want is the stacked look, folds in a close vertical proximity to one another, i.e. on top of one another. I know it is to some extent determined by fit, i.e. narrower leg opening, appropriate inseam, also shoes. But I'm not looking for a total illusion- sometimes a particular pair of jeans would have folds the way I want, next time around they would be gone. I have a pair of Levis jeans that came pre-folded/-distressed (see pic below) so that when I wear them, they are always folded and stacked the same way. If I just wanted distressing, I might have tried the sand paper method. But this involves, so to say, perma-folds and I am not sure how this can be achieved. Thanks!

I would say starching and/or ironing them to get the creases set like you want is the best/only solution.

starching... but i think that fit is the real determining factor. to get a good stacking you need tapered jeans. anything else will be too loose around the hem to be able to hold the shape wear after wear

correct. For the "proper" bunched look, you need long, long (36+" inseam) jeans that are tapered. It sort of works with straight jeans, but it looks sort of "messy." Long tapered jeans works best by far.
