26 miles yesterday. Set a lot of PRs, confirming that, indeed, more power with less weight makes you faster. Not as fast as anyone else I was riding with, but still faster. 😁

16.5ish miles on the cyclocross bike on a mix of pavement, gravel and dirt. I stopped at coffee shop for a bit in there. Perfect on a warm day.

I like my new socks…

25 miles yesterday afternoon. Brutal headwind up and over Guadalupe Canyon (the squiggle at the bottom of the route below). Had to pedal downhill!

4 miles after lunch on the local trails. I got to show the local trails to a friend visiting from Manitoba. He had fun running at altitude. Temps were around 80.

Bike accident, lost control on a downhill going 30-35, back tire slide when breaking, ultimately got stopped by a telephone poll. Poor Cervelo frame is cracked and I have a broken wrist. Lucky it wasn’t worse but out of commission for the next 2 months and will be in market for a new bike.
These are thoughts I mostly put out of my mind when descending. Sorry to hear it.

Tuesday morning at the track again and I decided to push myself for a 5k. Set a new PR at 19:07, which, according to Strafforts, appears to be 00:15 better than my previous 5k PR. Midway through I felt like I had a little bit more in the tank but I knew I was going pretty good so I didn't want to push it and crash before the final stretch.

Ouch! Sorry to read this. Hopefully the recovery is swift and the dent to the wallet for a new bike isn't too painful either.

15 "miles" on the Kickr last night. Got the shingles vax and a TDAP booster on Monday, and they knocked me out. Worse than any of the COVID shots.

11 miles yesterday after work at a park near my office. The trail was entirely gravel and dirt single-track through the woods with a ton of switchbacks and very uneven areas and gave me about 1,200' of elevation change. I was definitely feeling it in my thighs this morning.

This was the first time I've ever completed the full loop as the few other times I've gone out there I usually end up getting lost sidetracked. I was feeling it

Supposedly, this loop is also one of the best mountain biking trails in Michigan. One of the reasons I don't run this trail often is that I'm always afraid I'll get run down by some cyclists. Thankfully I only had to jump off the trail to let cyclists pass a couple of times yesterday.
