Do you use a single four-in-hand with Chipp's grenadines or a double?

I have a Blue Chipp grenadine that I find ties rather thick, cumbersome knots due to the thick lining. I usually have to use a single knot as opposed to the doubles I use for my Berg & Berg unlined Grenadines.

I tie single FIH with Chipp ties. I find the thicker lining produces a knot size that I appreciate, and gives the tie a nice drape. Two of my Chipps, purchased more recently, have a thinner interlining and tie a slightly smaller knot. I could see people preferring it, but I think I like the thicker interlining better.

Had to break out a scarf, hat, gloves and overcoat today. Will likely be in linen by Saturday as the weird weather continues.

This is fantastic. Like the polar opposite of what I think of when I think "AAS Outfit" -- and I rather like your usual wilder looks! -- but that is what makes it so effective. Deets on the suit?

For the third time in my life, I tried wearing brown shoes with grey trousers today. The first two times, I only got a few blocks from my house and felt so awkward I went back to the house and changed to black shoes.

Proving the third time's the charm (and one can get away with wearing anything in Hollywood) I managed to get through an entire day (so far) wearing brown shoes with grey trousers.

Now I'm wondering how Clifton Webb felt about wearing brown shoes with grey trousers.

Brooks Brothers Brookstweed jacket, L L Bean blue OCBD shirt, Hardy Amies wool tie, Viyella (55-45 Made In Scotland) sweater vest, Squarextraordinaire pocket square, Polo Ralph Lauren grey flannel trousers, Eddie Bauer argyle socks, and Allen-Edmonds snuff suede Neumoks.

Close up of the trousers, socks, and shoes.

(Yes, the picture was taken in the forecourt of the Chinese Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd.)

It's amazing what you can do when you try very hard and believe in yourself :)

Thanks. The suit was an eBay score. Polo Ralph Lauren, Made in Italy, pants are high rise, double inward pleats, side adjusters, 2 inch cuffs. Had dinner tonight at the Polo Bar. Had to represent.
