My thoughts exactly. I was hoping a darker cardigan/vest would add some contrast. I think the bow tie is a little too dark given everything else is on the lighter side.
Like this overall. I disliked how close the jacket and trews looked in the initial cropped pictures but in the last full length ones there was more contrast than I initially thought - a little more would be good but the added context helps. On the tie - I think a madder with a burgundy base would be fantastic with this.

I picked out two tie options: this navy corduroy bow tie and a burgundy grenadine tie.

That would work well too. I think the navy works, I just think I’d prefer the burg. I was thinking something like this would be killer.

I find myself thinking this a lot these days. I’m an advocate of slim-fitting strides but these ^ ankle stranglers are not very becoming at all. They throw off the balance of the outfit, tapering as aggressively as they do, and make your feet appear to be huge!
But what will you put the big socks in! In all seriousness if you keep the shoe colors muted it isn’t too bad unless you have big thighs and then a heavy taper below the knee. I wear a good bit of slim straight pants. I will likely prove your point in my outfit today.
