A fine pinstripe. Very conservative and professional!

Glad you think so! (And I not only wore it but posted it, so I guess I think it's perfectly good.) For whatever reason this suiting comes in for heavy criticism in a lot of threads around SF. I'm thinking most specifically of the Manton/whnay "Good Taste Thread" where there is a multipage dogpile on how awful narrow pinstripes are.

I didn't quite understand the problem.

I can't bring myself to wear extremely wide pinstripes. Too Al Capone. The stripes on your Oxxford suit are perfect business wear. Narrower pinstripes are more modern I think but quite nice as well.

The stripes actually look okay, but is that a purple shirt?

Most definitely.

Why did I say "not SF-approved"? Like I said in response to smitty, that type of suiting -- near-black charcoal with narrow pinstripes -- gets a lot of flak from some SF posters. For example, in this thread, where several learned members express their distaste for stripes narrower than .75". (Really excellent thread as a general matter, fwiw.) I like my suit regardless.

EDIT: Obligatory request to please spoiler photos in quotes, much as I like seeing pictures of myself eight times as I scroll down this page :)

EDITED AGAIN to amend the citation to the "Good Taste" thread with a but see, David Reeves, who seems to have rather good taste, endorses black with pinstripes.... A split in authority!

A lot of SF doods would probably say this jacket is too short. Not saying I disagree with them, but I am comfortable with the length. Though I will go no shorter.

The thing I like about this jacket is that it feels just super wearable—easy to throw on. Somehow I always feel a bit more self-conscious in wider-lapel jackets, jackets with stronger shoulders, and jackets with longer hems.

I love love LOVE my NMWA cut Eidos jackets, which are both wider in lapel and length—but I usually feel much more comfortable throwing on this jacket. It just feels "easier" somehow.

That said, once again, I would feel *uncomfortable* if it were any shorter. So, there is a range and you have to figure out what makes you feel good—what you feel like you look good in.

Jacket length is fine!

Styleforum sometimes overemphasizes the "style" part of the forum. conservative business dress works for me! Anyway, Oxxford is great almost all of the time.

It was almost cool this morning, so I broke out the flannel for one last hurrah. I'm sure I'll regret it in the afternoon. Nice. One suggestion: for trousers with narrow leg openings, hem them a bit shorter.

Y'know I thought the same thing when I looked at that picture. Next time I wear it I'll have to give it some thought if I want to take them a bit shorter next time I run by the tailor. Might just have been sitting low in the picture. 'Preciate the feedback as always.
