I wear tweed jackets a lot this time of year, especially on "Casual Fridays" and the like and, while I'm an Old Fart of sorts (Mid Forties) and do enjoy a spot of shooting at weekends I'm encouraged to see a number of much younger Men and Women "Rocking the tweed" on the tube each morning. Paired with the right shirts, trousers and boots it can look outstandingly smart, paired with the wrong sort, outlandish and eccentric (which could be a good or bad thing depending on context I suppose).

In short Tweed, I like it, I think it's good.

I don't understand this "rocking" concept with regards to clothing. I rock babies, the bouncing bosoms of a harem of sultry young lasses, and occasionally the throttle of an Italian cafe racer.

But I see your point that they might not be the best option with the three-piece suit (or with a suit in general). Thanks for reminding me about that.

I was using it in an attempt at self-parody as I'm a bit of a dry old stick. I believe certain youth sub-cults use this word in the context of "to wear unashamedly/with panache" although, inevitably, I may have mis-translated.

It has been some time since I have "rocked" anything. However, in my own loose interpretation, "rocking" means to wear an item(s) that would widely be considered outrageous, uncouth, or just generally absurd. I generally saw it as a sophomoric take on GTH style. When I think of "rocking" clothes in college something like this comes to mind...

 Oops, I meant to quote AJV but I'll just remark here anyway.  The fit looks much better than your usual, which I find too slim.  This looks relaxed and better.
